Designer and luxury go hand in hand. When investing in luxury pieces, it’s important to keep in mind that you are not only acquiring high end clothing or accessories, it’s also about making the most of those pieces you decide to splurge on. We share four essential tips to help you maximize your luxury wardrobe.

1. Quiet luxury is key

Classics are timeless and are definitely worth investing in. Now what exactly falls under “classics”? Think of neutral colorways when it comes to ready to wear: whites, blacks, creams, navy and camel are all options to think about.

Neutrals have become increasingly popular this year and there’s even a term for this kind of style which is now referred to as “quiet luxury”. Quiet luxury simply means high quality minimalist pieces with a timeless appeal.

2. Build a capsule wardrobe

One thing is certain, when you invest in a designer item, you want to create a curated collection of items that can be paired multiple ways, and maybe even on different occasions.

This allows you to create diverse looks with a number of pieces. Think “capsule wardrobe- luxury edition” . When building your capsule wardrobe, which is basically a fancy word for “mixing and matching”, be sure to also include your handbags, shoes and even jewelry, not just clothing. When done right, you are not only expanding your options but you are also adding value to each piece.

3. Cover the basics, invest in eye-catching pieces after

So in the first tip we talk about the importance of investing in neutral pieces, specifically your wardrobe, but once this has been established, it would be ideal to invest in a few pieces that offer a unique detail or design that catches the eye.

We are not necessarily talking about a trendy piece or a fashion piece, you are looking more into quality. This will add uniqueness to your wardrobe and style overall.

4. Consider your lifestyle

This is an important one that can easily be overlooked at times, especially when we go into “shopaholic mode”. When shopping for pieces, be mindful of how often you’ll need to dress up or down.

Are you a corporate girly? Are you a CEO or do you work remotely and are always on-the-go? Do you attend events often or are you more the type to do casual lunches or dinners? Also keep your travels in mind, are you a constant jetsetter or more home bound?
